Visiting Wellex Cotton Factory for Collaboration for Providing Skill Development and Employment for Transgender Community

As part of our initiative to promote social inclusion and economic empowerment for marginalized communities, our foundation visited Wellex Cotton Factory to explore potential collaboration opportunities for providing skill development and employment for the transgender community in Palakkad. The visit was hosted by Riyaz, Director of Wellex Cotton Factory, who welcomed our foundation’s team and provided a comprehensive tour of the factory facilities. The factory, known for its high-quality cotton products, employs a significant number of local workers and has a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility. During the tour, our foundation’s representatives observed various stages of the cotton processing and manufacturing process, gaining insights into the skills and expertise required at each stage. The discussions focused on identifying suitable roles and training programs that could be tailored for members of the transgender community. Our foundation proposed a collaborative project to provide specialized training in areas such as textile manufacturing, quality control, and machine operation. The aim is to equip transgender individuals with the skills needed to secure stable employment in the textile industry. Wellex Cotton Factory expressed strong support for the initiative and committed to providing on-the-job training and mentorship for the trainees. In addition to skill development, the collaboration also aims to promote a supportive and inclusive work environment at the factory. Our foundation suggested sensitization workshops for existing employees to foster a culture of acceptance and respect. Wellex Cotton Factory agreed to collaborate on these workshops and ensure that transgender employees are integrated smoothly into the workforce.
